In an ideal room (at least 30 m2 (322 ft2) with significant absorption level) we would recommend the listener to sit about 2,4-3,7m (8-12 ft) away from the speakers. However, it almost never happens that the room is ideal. There are so many factors like room size, shape, distance to walls etc that influence how the sound gets reflected that impacts on the distance you should have.
In a big speaker like 100.49 you need around 2,4m (8 ft) to get the drivers in correct phase but if you're further away, the unwanted reflections from the room will grow in level compared to the direct sound and that means increased phase problems. So in a big well damped room, the distance can be longer, but in a less acoustically perfect room and smaller rooms, it’s better to sit closer.
